Repairing and maintaining walls, windows and shutters of your house

maintaining wallsThe passage of time, and occasionally some construction defects, can lead to time on issues that affect the proper functioning and appearance of your home. Therefore should be checked every 3 to 6 months indoors and outdoors, and check that everything is in perfect condition (cracks, leaks, breaks, etc).

Within the structure of the house are the walls and enclosures (doors, windows and shutters) that more easily show the defects that may occur. This takes note of the solutions we offer below:

Cracks.
When large and deep cracks appear, it should cover them as soon as possible so that does not spread. The settlement does not involve great works, you just have to “open” the crack, fiber fill, apply a bandage and paint.
Sometimes a heavy door slamming or a small reform cause tiny cracks in the form of “scratch”. In this case you can cover them yourself using adhesive strips or cover cracks gypsum plaster (found in DIY stores). Then you must straighten the wall before proceeding with painting or wallpapering.

Corners.
They are one of the areas most exposed to shock, friction, etc, and are therefore subject to high wear. To regain their original form can also repair and protect exterior with a cornerback.
An outside corner is a quick and inexpensive option, although not the most aesthetically desirable, you will find them in different colors and can be attached to the inside corner by means of fasteners, the corners of some refurbishment work involved, you should chop the corner the metal insert, finishing and finally paint.

Ventanas.
When a window is not sealed air leaks occur, losing between 25 and 30% of heat or cold. To isolate them, you can use the system to put a gasket around the window. But when there are gaps between the frame and the wall, the solution is injected fiberglass in order to seal the holes.

Blinds.
The old wooden models often have air filtration problems, resulting in loss of heat or cold with consequent extra expenditure of energy (heating or air conditioning). A very effective solution to this problem (if you want to change blind), is to line the inside with fiberglass and apply a waterproof layer that closes any pores of the wood.
